All of the Academy of Interpretation's oral language proficiency tests can be done over the computer using a headset/microphone. There is no need to schedule a proctor to complete the test.
Each test consists of 15 questions and has a 30-minute time limit.
English Proficiency Test
The English proficiency test consists of:
- Multiple Choice Questions - used to test comprehension after a listening exercise
- Free Response Questions - the student must listen to a prompt and then record their answer in English
Non-English Proficiency Tests
All non-English proficiency tests require the student to listen to a prompt and then record their response. There are two types of prompts:
- Interpretation - The student will listen to a phrase in English and then interpret the phrase into their target language
- Free Response - The student will listen to an open-ended question and then record their own response in their target language
